Women's midlife mental health · Georgia and California
When you do not feel like yourself, and no one quite explains why
Perimenopause and menopause can bring anxiety, low mood, irritability and a shaken sense of identity, often just as work, parenting and caregiving are at their fullest. Stephanie works with women through the perimenopause and menopause transition.
You may recognize some of this
You do not need to have it all figured out before reaching out.
- Anxiety or low mood that seemed to arrive out of nowhere
- Feeling more irritable, tearful or overwhelmed than you used to
- Brain fog or poor sleep making everything feel harder
- A sense of losing the person you were, or not knowing who you are becoming
- Carrying a career, children, aging parents, or all three at once
- Being told it is just stress, or just hormones, and feeling unheard
How therapy can help
Therapy does not replace medical care for menopause, and it works well alongside it. What it offers is a place to make sense of the emotional side of this transition: the grief, the anger, the relief, and the questions about identity and what comes next.
Together you can find ways to manage anxiety and overwhelm, rethink what you are carrying, and approach this stage of life with more understanding and less self-blame.
How Stephanie approaches this
Perimenopause and menopause are among Stephanie's specialties, and a subject she speaks on to women's groups and professional audiences. Her training in Integrative Mental Health Counseling means lifestyle factors such as sleep and nutrition are considered alongside therapy rather than treated separately.
Many women in midlife are also navigating burnout, grief, or old experiences that resurface under strain, and those can be part of the work too. For clients who want it, faith can be part of the conversation. It is never assumed.

Questions people ask
Do I need a diagnosis or a doctor's referral first?
No. You do not need a diagnosis or a referral to reach out. If it helps, therapy can sit alongside the care you receive from your doctor or women's health provider.
I am not sure whether this is menopause or something else. Can I still come?
Yes. You do not need to have it figured out. Many women arrive unsure what is driving how they feel, and working that out can be part of therapy.
Is this available by telehealth?
Yes. Renew is a virtual practice, so every session is by secure video through SimplePractice, for clients physically located in Georgia or California at the time of the session.
